PhD in Economics at IdEP
At the PhD’s level the Institute of Economics (IdEP) coordinates the PhD in Economics degree offered by USI Faculty of Economics.
Furthermore, IdEP is affiliated with two networks that provide doctoral courses, SSPH+ and SPAN.
PhD in Economics
The doctoral programme addresses graduates of promising talent and keen to launch into a high-profile career. From time to time the Faculty advertises doctoral student positions regulated by contracts (with teaching assistant or graduate researcher status). This is the framework in which PhD students set out on their research paths.
The Faculty awards one single postgraduate degree: the PhD in Economics. The minimum duration is three years. The degree is awarded to the candidate who has successfully completed the set doctoral programme (30 ECTS) and 'defended' his/her PhD thesis. A thesis must be a significant contribution to the advancement of learning in a given field of study. A number of theses completed and accepted in the past few years have been successfully published.

Doctoral courses
IdEP is affiliated with two networks that provide doctoral courses, the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) with its International Doctoral Courses and seminars in Health Economics and Policy, and the Swiss Public Administration Network (SPAN) with its doctoral courses.
